What’s in a Name?
A Southern California native, Joe grew up in and around the water. He was a competitive age-group swimmer and played water polo at Stanford. His many summers as an ocean lifeguard had a profound impact on him. Being given the opportunity to literally save lives with countless rescues — and being in charge of the safety of everyone on his watch — instilled in Joe a “lifeguard mentality” he carries with him always.
When Joe decided to launch his own wealth management firm, he chose a name that captures the depth of care and responsibility he gives to every client: Lifeguard Wealth. He’s no longer saving lives in such a literal sense, but he is saving financial lives by helping each client navigate the uncertainties of the markets and adequately plan for a secure, prosperous future.

Managing Director Joe Delaney founded Lifeguard Wealth to help others realize their goals and dreams. As a fee-only financial advisor, he is dedicated to putting clients first. Joe has more than 30 years of financial-industry experience as a CPA and CFO; he has held senior positions with institutional investment and wealth management firms. Since 2001, he has focused his career on creating and executing wealth management strategies for individuals and families. He is licensed to provide investment advisory services, and he holds a BA in economics from Stanford University and an MBA in finance from UCLA Anderson.
In his spare time, Joe enjoys competitive swimming, mountain/road riding, yoga and spending time with family. Joe lives in Marin with his daughter Paige and dog Bear. His older son Blake is a student at Seattle University.
Allen’s interest in Finance began at ten years old, when his grandfather began giving him old copies of The Wall Street Journal. His interest in helping others with Finance started at the same time as he took those old copies to school and showed his friends how to look up stock prices (after he explained what a share of stock is). This interest grew into multiple positions with multiple firms spanning over a decade, including BAM’s affiliated firm, Buckingham Strategic Wealth. Allen joins Lifeguard Wealth as an Associate Advisor. He works primarily behind the scenes helping Joe focus even more on building long-term relationships with you and on giving the personal, independent experience you can trust.
Allen is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Kendall and two children Avery and Patrick. Allen enjoys landscaping and gardening and considers any day on the water a day well spent.
